Eight New Drag Racing Records Set At East Coast Nationals

Eight new ANDRA Nationals Records were set at last weekend’s 2007 AC Delco East Coast Nationals at Western Sydney International Dragway.

Queensland’s Aaron Tremayne led the charge in Group One, bumping both ends of the Pro Stock mark in his Chev Cavalier. With new cars on the way the team has the measure of the field at the moment, although John Barbagallo from northern Queensland was close.

In Group Two, Queensland’s Rob Sacre set both ends of the B/Modified Production Automatic record, in his last drive. This adjusted the Class Indexes for B/MPA and D/Gas Automatic at the same time.

Sydney’s Rob Campisi took the Super Sedan / AA into the six second zone and over 200 miles per hour. He tore a quarter of a second off the elapsed time standard and added a full 12 miles per hour (19 kph) to the terminal speed.

Jason Mansweto moved the existing Trick & Mansweto record for Super Sedan / A down to 7.70 and while George Rehayem did not run under the Group Two minimum for Pro Rear Wheel Drive, he still moved the National Record for the class into the six second zone.

Pro Stock - Aaron Tremayne - Cavalier/Chev 400 - Elapsed Time 7.142 - Terminal Speed 191.08 - Class Index 7.64

B/MPA - Sacre & Muller - Pontiac/Chev 315 - Elapsed Time 8.664 - Terminal Speed 150.77 - Class Index 9.16

D/GA - MINIMUM - Elapsed Time 8.664 - Class Index 9.16

PRO/RWD - George Rehayem - Mazda/Mazda 240T - Elapsed Time 6.980

SS/AA - Robert Campisi - Ford/Ford 400T - Elapsed Time 6.984 - Terminal Speed 203.58

SS/A - Jason Mansweto - Ford/Ford 604 - Elapsed Time 7.701

The next opportunity for ANDRA Nationals Records to be reset will be the 2007 Australian Nationals at Willowbank Raceway near Ipswich in Queensland between Friday, September 14th and Sunday, September 16th, 2007.
